How to minimise the number of SKUs

How to minimise the number of SKUs using Fix-a-Form® labels

Reducing the number of stock keeping units, or SKUs, is a key aim of modern inventory management. A SKU is a distinct type of item for sale which has particular attributes that distinguish it from other item types.

Generally, the more lines or SKUs within a business, the higher the capital investment required to manage them. These costs are incurred from the additional activity and time spent managing inventory levels, producing orders and stock counting.

In addition, the greater the number of lines a business looks after, the harder it is to select and parcel orders without sophisticated software.

Companies for whom this is a familiar problem will be pleased to know that the ability to minimise the number of SKUs within a business is a key advantage of using our Fix-a-Form® labels.

This is particularly the case for companies who ship or sell their products in more than one country. Fix-a-Form® are multi-page labels that can hold up to 120 pages of information, providing businesses with plenty of room to display their product information in multiple languages.

This means they do not have to order distinct packaging for each country they supply or attribute a separate SKU to each product line which only differs from the next because the labelling and product information is written in a different language. But it does mean they can simplify their inventory management processes and reduce costs.

While our Fix-a-Form® labels are supplied in a standard reel format and can be applied with standard industry-labelling equipment, they can also be tailored to suit different product needs. Our team’s approach is to sit down with customers to discuss their requirements before coming up with the right solution for them.
