Britons holidaying abroad could benefit from new eco-friendly printed labels after it was discovered that they are the worst when it comes to recycling.
According to new research carried out by Pierre & Vacances (P&V) over the last 12 months, of the holidaymakers staying in self-catering accommodation in France, Brits were the worst when it came to separating out their rubbish.
Cathy Rankin, UK and Ireland sales and marketing director at P&V, hinted that a change to the printed labels on recyclable goods could alter the amount of recycling that holidaying Brits do.
"We don't think that Brits are unwilling to recycle, rather that they don't fully understand how it is done in France," she claimed.
Ms Rankin added that it was vitally important that people heading on holiday understood recycling peelable labels so that countries could continue to reduce the amount of rubbish they send to landfill.
Recently, Ireland's packaging waste organisation reported that during 2010 it had achieved a recover rate of 65 per cent, reports LetsRecycle.com.
