The printed labels of Cadbury's chocolate may have to be altered after a new type of packaging was announced for supermarkets.
According to the Daily Mail, owner Kraft is spending £6 million on making boxes of Dairy Milk, Whole Nut and Fruit and Nut stand up rather than lying flat in a slab.
It has realised that the current design is "virtually impossible for shoppers to see" and hopes having the bars raised at checkouts will increase impulse purchases of the chocolate.
The new packaging will start to appear in the first half of 2012 and will make use of a spring so the bars do not fall over and so the next one will be pushed forward after shoppers make a purchase.
Printed labels for chocolate may be being scrutinised by manufacturers after The Grocer revealed earlier this year that consumers are increasingly buying it for family nights in.
