Thinking outside the box
Innovation, dedication and hard work are key in maintaining a successful business, whatever the industry may be.
By producing a quality product, accommodating the needs of the client and providing an efficient service, these companies have been able to establish a firm base of loyal customers and build up a reputation of excellence within the food and drink industry.
The food and beverage sector is very demanding; technology is continually evolving to serve the growing demands of the consumer, health and safety regulations and the market, and companies are improving their operations in terms of environmental efficiency and output whilst reducing expenditure where possible. These may be hard economic times, but the following organisations are still going strong, proving their success in the industry.
Labelling is one of the most imperative stages in the supply chain; the design of the label needs to be appealing in order to entice new customers, and it also provides promotional and informational opportunities for any extra details the consumer need or would to know.
There are strict regulations in place regarding the nutritional information that must be displayed on products so the customer is completely aware of what they are purchasing.
One solution to this is Fix-a-Form which was created by Denny Bros Ltd. This company, which was established in 1945 as commercial print specialists, pride themselves on being “a very modern business with good, strong family values.” After building up a respectable reputation and successfully tackling challenging projects, they devised their signature product, Fix-a-Form, in 1970, and today it is produced under a specialist licence in over 50 countries.
The multi-page, fold out label was designed to maximise space on packaging whilst reducing the need for excess packaging.
The innovative team behind Fix-a-Form were able to create a product that was adaptable in terms of design and function, therefore enabling numerous design specifications of any brand to be met.
The label can take many forms, such as a booklet or leaflet, and can contain up to 60 pages of text, images or diagrams, making it ideal for informational purposes. Its versatility in colour, shape and form of application means that the product can be used successfully as a promotional tool. In 2006, the organisation was named by the British Print Industry Federation as ‘UK Company of the Year.’
It is companies such as these which lead the way in their field; their hard work, creative thinking and increasing knowledge and expertise have enabled them to lead a successful business for many years and will continue to do so for many years to come.
