We regularly share good news about our efforts to become a truly green supplier and this month we are particularly proud to report that as part of our ongoing recycling initiatives and investments the amount of waste sent to landfill has reduced significantly. The number of skips sent has been reduced from about 220 per year to 10 per year, a considerable achievement, particularly for a commercial printer.
This phenomenal reduction was made possible by introducing more recycling bins on site, meaning that all types of waste generated can now be segregated. Materials which were previously destined for landfill are now being sent to India in containers that would have been shipped back empty, keeping our carbon footprint low while providing materials for recycling in India and creating local employment.
Everyday objects are being produced from landfill waste in India, including this unique chair, seen below. Used in our offices in Bury St Edmunds and made from recycled waste label material, the chair is an important reminder to everyone that when it comes to recycling and the environment, every little helps.
