Printed labels detailing green credentials may soon be added to Hasbro products after the company committed to improving its environmental impact.
The toy manufacturer said in a new report that it will start to eliminate PVC from core product packaging in 2013.
Currently, the plastic is used in blister packs and thermoformed clam-shells, but the US-based firm has said it wants to create a more sustainable plan.
Other ambitions outlined in the report include swapping the wire ties holding toys in place for rattan or bamboo and using more recycled paper.
Hasbro president Brian Goldner said: "Our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) is behind everything we do at Hasbro and we're pleased to be sharing our CSR goals and accomplishments with the world."
This follows news earlier this year from Mattel, which said it will increase the amount of recycled and sustainable fibres it uses by 70 per cent by the end of 2011.
