Ensuring that the nutrients are visible on peelable labels for food products could result in more interest from shoppers, one expert has said.
Mary Waldner, founder of gluten-free food company Mary's Gone Crackers, told the Natural Products Marketplace that buyers are increasingly on the lookout for ingredients they know are good for them.
"Consequently, products flaunting these benefits get the extra attention they seek," she commented.
Ms Waldner recommended clearly highlighting words like fibre, Omega 3 and vitamins if products contain them, as this may make them stand out from the crowd.
The expert also warned against creating foods with too many additives, as these are now being ditched by many consumers who check the nutritional information panels.
Last month, a poll published by The Integer Group and M/A/R/C Research found that one in four people are willing to pay more for a product if they think it will contribute to saving the environment.
