Pharmaceutical firm Nuvilex could soon be investing in pharma booklet labels after it announced it has completed a Phase 11 clinical trial for a drug it hopes to use to treat pancreatic cancer.
The trial was carried out in Europe and the firm said that the results of the tests showed "efficacy and an improvement in quality of life, due in large part to the reduction in toxicity levels from lower dose chemotherapy".
Highlights of the trial results announced by the firm included a 100 per cent increase in patients' median survival rate, a reduction in the level of chemotherapy needed and an increase in the quality of life for more than 50 per cent of patients.
As well as this, the one year survival rate was twice the level observed with the current gold standard, the company said.
Meanwhile, Somnus Therapeutics recently announced that it is successfully completed the second phase of a study into sleep maintenance insomnia drugs aimed at helping people sleep right through until morning.
