
Designers need to think about consumers when creating printed labels for products, but they also need to think about images on computer screens.
This is according to National President of the Australian Institute of Packaging Pierre Pienaar, who pointed out that things now need to look appealing to online shoppers too, FoodMag.com reports.
He explained that companies will have to create two-dimensional designs that fit plenty of information in what can be condensed down into a small thumbnail.
This comes after Google Australia said it had found that 30 per cent of Christmas searches this year have involved food and beverages, suggesting many people may be doing even their food shopping via the internet.
At the recent Processing and Packaging Machinery Association show, Richard Bull from a sealing machinery supplier warned that flawed packaging designs are costing brands all over the world hundreds of millions of pounds, FoodManufacture.co.uk reports.
Fix-a-form peelable labels could help firms to attach essential information to their packaging without it taking up a prominent position when space is at a premium.
