Piggyback labels and other promotions may be necessary for shoppers who are increasingly finding their monthly budget squeezed.
Yvonne Goodwin, managing director of Yvonne Goodwin Wealth Management, offered a few tips for anyone looking for easy ways to cut their bills down to size.
"It is matching up income with expenditure and being aware of what you've got coming in and how to make ends meet," she explained.
The expert suggested looking out for promotional labels in supermarkets, particularly those offering meal deals for a certain price for the whole week, as she believes there will be more of these soon.
According to the Trades Union Congress, low incomes in the UK only increased by 27 per cent in the 30 years up to the recession, even though the economy doubled.
This comes after Morrisons found that shoppers are now abandoning the weekly shop in favour of a trolley dash on payday.
