Plymouth Gin gets new-look printed labels 20/01/2012

Alcohol producer the Chivas Brothers has redesigned its packaging and printed labels to highlight its heritage.

The new-look Plymouth Gin was launched in Spain late last year and will be rolling out across the rest of Europe throughout this year.

A statement for Chivas Brothers said: "The new rounded bottle shape and antique style pay tribute to the unique heritage of Plymouth Gin, while the oval label sees a return to an earlier example of the packaging, enriched with copper to reflect Plymouth's artisanal credentials."

It added that the copper cap pays homage to the single copper pot still which has been used since Victorian times.

The printed label shows an image of the Mayflower, while a Black Friar icon is embossed into the glass which the firm hopes will underline its status as a super-premium gin.

US-based Flying Dog Brewery also recently redesigned its packaging in a bid to make more of the original artwork on the bottles.
