A recent study has shown that promotional labels are being used more and more by people in the UK, with 61 per cent of consumers polled stating that they make use of coupons.
Valassis market research indicated that nearly a quarter of respondents very frequently use promotional labels to get better prices on products.
While lower income households regularly try to get these discounts, coupons were also found to be popular among wealthier Brits.
Overall, there was an increase of nine percentage points in the proportion of respondents who said they made use of these price reduction offers.
The age group found to be most likely to use a promotional label were those between the ages of 35 and 44.
A total of 67 per cent said they would use coupons, up from 57 per cent in 2010.
Earlier this month, a poll by moneysupermarket.com found that 22 per cent of Britons are struggling to make ends meet.
A further 30 per cent said they would also be in this position if their living costs rose by £100 per month.
