Competition within the food industry can be fierce; businesses are always advancing and introducing new products and services to stay ahead of the game. Creativity, innovation and expertise are all key elements organisations must have in order to remain successful.
One example of this is Denny Bros; a corporation that pride themselves on being "a very modern business with good, strong family values." The business was first set up by Douglas and Russell Denny in 1945 and focused on the commercial print trade before expanding into the world renowned organisation it is today. After building up a strong reputation and successfully tackling challenging projects, they devised their signature product which is now produced under a specialist licence in over 50 countries.
In the 1970s, Denny Bros created Fix-a-Form, a fold-out label which was designed to maximise space on packaging whilst reducing the need for excess packaging. The innovative team behind Fix-a-Form were able to create a product that was adaptable in terms of design and function, therefore enabling numerous design specifications of any brand to be met. This flexibility enables customers to use Fix-a-Form for a number of purposes.
One example is informational; food and beverage manufacturers face increasingly stringent regulations regarding the information that is required on packaging. Denny Bros managed to provide a solution to this whilst eliminating the need for additional packaging which would normally accommodate the information. The labels are also ideal for promotional purposes; removable gifts and stickers, money-off vouchers, completely randomised competition codes and booklets can all be attached ready for consumer purchase, rewarding existing loyal customers while simultaneously attracting new ones.
Denny Bros created different formats for the leaflet labels in order to cater to various industries, including the pharmaceutical, chemical and consumer products sectors as well as food and drink. Clients have the opportunity to choose a folding pattern, and because each label only takes up the same amount of space as the existing label and can expand for up to 48 pages, there is plenty of room for clients to display their required information.
The company make health and safety and environmental efficiency a top priority, meeting the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2008 for quality management, and they have achieved BS EN ISO 14001:2004 in environmental management, along with being holders of the Investors in People standard. In addition to this, Denny Bros is also certified to BS EN PS 9000:2001, which governs all job handling and management processes within the pharmaceutical packaging materials industry.
