A warning has been issued to people who are intolerant of gluten after a number of yoghurts had printed labels affixed to them which claimed they were gluten-free.
The Onken desserts actually contain wholegrain pieces, so cannot be free of the substance, which can cause a severe reaction in coeliacs.
The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert and the Coeliac UK website has also printed the news, but there will not be a product recall.
Instead, the affected strawberry, peach and summer berries yoghurts will have extra printed labels attached to them to cover up the incorrect information.
Katie Thorne from Emmi, which owns Onken, told FoodNavigator: "A product withdrawal is not necessary as there is an allergen warning on the pack that states 'contains gluten'."
In the US, senators Ron Eyden and Patrick Leahy recently wrote to the Food and Drug Administration to demand why a proposed rule on tolerable gluten thresholds for gluten-free foods has not yet been passed, Food Navigator reported.
