Case Study P1 - Gordon & MacPhail use Promaxx Business Cards

Gordon & MacPhail, based at Elgin, Scotland, is the world's leading malt whisky specialist.

The 107 year old company has remained independent and family owned throughout its history. But when it comes to corporate communications, the company is particularly conscious of keeping up to date, which is why the marketing team at Gordon and MacPhail has long since given up using traditionally printed business cards.

The problems of printing too many cards (to keep up with minimum quantities) only to find that they go out of date before the batch can be used are no more for the company that likes to stay ahead of the competition.

They now rely on Promaxx overprintable business cards and finds the system suits the business well. Explains Liselle Barnsley at Gordon & MacPhail, 'We switched to the Promaxx system of printing business cards because it offered many advantages over conventionally printed cards.'

Cards are pre-printed by Denny Bros the instantly recognisable stag's head logo, address and side panel design and the middle is then left blank for overprinting by Gordon & MacPhail's in-house print manager. 'The information can be personalised for each individual but still ensure a corporate image and format is maintained.' continues Liselle.

'We certainly consider the flexibility of the cards to be very important and in addition to the cost and time saving. Cards can be produced very quickly and efficiently. If a member of staff needs a supply of cards for an exhibition or event, they can have them the same day.'

Gordon and MacPhail employ 110 people and so it is essential to have a reliable system for communication. So many details can change on an almost weekly basis and, under the traditional system of card printing, this would mean excessive card wastage.
