Anti-counterfeit and security features
Multi-page labels from Denny Bros are an economical way of combining an aesthetic product design with detailed information and tamper-evident protection.

Falsified Medicines Directive 2011/62/EU
We provide a range of pharmaceutical labelling solutions that support compliance with the Falsified Medicines Directive (2011/62/EU) regarding packaging for prescription drugs and high-risk over-the-counter medicines. These include tamper-evident labels and incorporating unique serial numbers to identify and authenticate individual products.
Anti-counterfeiting print measures and tamper evident features include:
- Coin reactive – a coin is rubbed over the surface to reveal what is hidden beneath
- QR code – a quick response code which when scanned using a QR reader on a phone will take the user to a website page of choice
- Print feature – deliberate print “hickies” that a counterfeiter may not think to replicate
- Cold foiling – silver foil applied to a product making it more of a challenge to counterfeit
- Void material – upon peeling back the label material wording such as ‘VOID’ can appear showing that the product has been tampered with
- Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags – usually hidden under labels or within packaging
- Thermochromatic ink – exposure to heat will make print features disappear or appear
- 2D matrix – consists of black and white “cells” or modules arranged in either a square or rectangular pattern. The information to be encoded can be text or numeric data.
- Microtext – text that is printed below or at one point size and so almost unnoticeable to the human eye initially and only legible through a magnifying glass
- Holograms – hard to replicate print features that deter counterfeiters
- Acoustic tags / Magnetic security strips – easily attached to high value items to deter shoplifting
- Fluorescent inks – UV light reveals what is hidden
