BBC film crew visit Denny Bros to discuss Coronavirus

The potential impact of the Coronavirus on our staff and business was discussed by the Denny Bros team as we welcomed a TV crew from BBC Look East.

Chief Reporter Kim Riley visited our headquarters in Bury St Edmunds to interview Managing Director Graham Denny, HR Manager Rachel Smith and our Safety Officer Peter Austin.

Kim discussed the potential impact of the Coronavirus on a medium-sized business like Denny Bros and we shared our policy for dealing with such a scenario. Graham told Look East:

“We are concerned about the future and how the Coronavirus might develop and become a much bigger issue, as is the fear. For any business, it would be serious if staff became affected by the Coronavirus. We have to hope that we don’t reach that point. If that did occur, we would be forced to shut down for a period.”

And Rachel added:

“Keep calm, wash your hands and if anyone is ill, we expect them to stay at home. We have got a good sickness policy here and we have got good staff that we know individually and whether they are vulnerable or not.”

Speaking after the feature was aired on BBC Look East, Graham added:

“As with any responsible employer, we are keeping a close eye on Government guidelines and following their advice closely.”
